Personal Projects
Welcome to my personal projects page!
This is the key area to showcase my passion and strengths. Here are my animations consisting of projects, principles and other 3D designs. I have posted it with most recent and best work at the top, and older work at the bottom.

Some of these projects I have dedicated my time to and I'm really happy with the outcome. I wanted to show the range and style of work and how far I've come since 2018. I hope you can see the array of skills, but also the areas I am pursuing. I have showcased areas such as modelling, texturing, rigging, animating, camera and lighting.

"It's a Sign"
The short film below is the project I created with my team in my final year at University 2020-2021. It's based on friendship, communication and breaking boundaries.

Enjoy!

On this film, I was responsible for a variety of roles. Our team was small so we all took on the majority of the roles. I assisted with the storyboards and animatics, as well as the character designs. I then took on modelling and texturing two of the characters (the children). I also rigged one of the characters, which was my first time rigging and it came with its challenges. It was an interesting aspect of animation and using the software (Maya) as it was very technical and specific. It did open my mind and gave me a better understanding of the software and production pipeline, but ultimately I enjoyed the character animation.
As with any production, we took responsibility each for different shots and scenes, first by blocking the characters and making sure the camera angles and positions were accurate for each shot. We used google drive to share files to ensure consistency of the project, especially this part. After the blocking was done, I moved onto the character animation. As we used BSL, I wanted to make sure to be precise and clear in the animation so it can be read easily. The target audience for this story was young children, so I had to ensure the animation was simple and effective. This took a few months and a lot of late nights and even having to cut some unimportant shots out to meet the deadline. I thoroughly enjoyed this part of the project as we could see all the work and vision coming together.
Once the animation was finished, we moved onto post-Production. This involved lighting, rendering, adding the sound, colour correcting and compositing. I took on the role of colour correcting to create a smooth and soft finish, as well as adding in little detail such as a lens flare.

This is just a brief summary on some of the areas I worked on in this film. Hope you enjoyed watching it!
Donut Project
This is the iconic Blender donut project created by following the tutorials on YouTube by BlenderGuru. The tutorials were really helpful and gave an insight into the basics of Blender from start to end. I added in some other elements to make the project my own such as different sprinkles, colours, an extra coffee cup and animation on the sprinkles themselves.

This project was my first creation in Blender, and really was one of the best tutorials out there on understanding the software. After using Maya for years and coming out of education with no access to this software anymore, I took it upon myself to learn a new one. I wanted to make sure I maintain my skills and develop them whilst seeking experience and opportunity. This project took a few months and with some technical challenges. Sometimes the results wouldn't turn out accurately, software slightly different as the original tutorials are older, and I was learning where everything was for the first time. From understanding the language of Maya, to translating it into another was difficult. Specifically the Hot Keys, controls and different words used for tools I already knew. Once I got that round my head, everything else fell into place and since then I've been using Blender with ease (but everyday still learning).
I like that Blender is so accessible and has its own compositing, texturing and sculpting tab so everything can be done within the software. There are some limitations such as the UV editing and unwrapping tools are very limited and not always end in great results compared to Maya. The filing and organising is also not great either, everything saves as one file, which does make it difficult for organising your project.

I'm happy with the results of this project and discovering so many areas of Blender and putting my confidence in animation.
Crab in a fishbowl Project
I created this project in Cinema4D, following a tutorial on their resources page. This is my first project using this software and found it smooth to navigate and create. I wanted to expand my knowledge on various software and heard how upcoming Cinema4D is. I used a free trail and created this project in two weeks. I modelled and textured everything myself and added some animation.

This was a fun tutorial to follow and covered just about the basics of this software and animation. It's very similar to Blender and Maya, so I was able to navigate through it. I did everything from scratch and used such a variety of tools and effects. I had some minor issues that I couldn't fix, but as they didn't really affect the overall animation, I decided to move on. I also had some glitches in the software but was early resolved by restarting.

If I had more time, I would've liked to resolve the shadow in the bottom of the fishbowl. It didn't seem an issue for the creator of the tutorial, so it wasn't covered on what to do to fix it. I think it was to do with the lighting and shape of the model, but I didn't have enough time to adjust as the trail ended.
