To introduce myself, my name is Briony, and I am a dedicated 3D junior animator, keen to gain professional experience in the industry and currently studying for a master’s degree in character and creature animation.  My journey in animation began in 2018 at the University of Lincoln where I graduated with a First Class Honours in Animation and Visual Effects (BA) in 2021 (although technically graduated in 2022 due to covid). My huge admiration and fascination with film and television led me to delve into the world of animation and couldn't help myself but learn more. I'm naturally a creative artistic person who studied art and photography for a-levels and I'm always drawing and creating in my spare time. As I pursued and furthered my studies, I discovered the impact animation has on media and society, fuelling my passion and dedication for the subject. My expertise consists of general 3D animation, developing skills in modelling, texturing, rigging and even VFX, but my heart lies in the technical intricacies of character and creature animation. It brings me joy to create lifelike movements and dynamics, infusing personality and narratives into my characters.

 

From year one at University, it only made me more passionate and appreciative of the art of animation and how much it makes such an impact on the world and media. It truly was an awakening moment to discover the endless possibilities and opportunities you can create with animation. I studied both 3D and 2D animation, and as much as I admire the artwork of 2D animation and the patience it comes with, I was engrossed with the technicality of 3D animation. I would get excited to work on a new project and learn a new skill and finally understand what it means to be an animator (a lot of late nights and a love-hate relationship with my computer). I'm aware of the array of opportunities and departments in 3D animation and how important each one is, but I completely and utterly enjoy the creation and studying of movement and dynamics. I believe my extreme fondness for film and tv also come into play here as to why I enjoy recreating and acting scenes that reflect personality and storytelling. I'm , however, not limited to this as I do enjoy and develop skills in VFX, compositing and editing.
